NOisefest 2:Electric Boogaloo
NOisefest 2015, wow. Night and day difference from last year. Two venues, two stages, TONNES of great fans! We were so happy to play the Artful Dodger to a packed house.
As per our regular gig day ritual we spent as much time as we could together prior to the actual gig. Curt and I went to BushWakkers at 11am to get the new Mosquito Chili beer. It is literally the hottest beer I have ever had. Brewed with a scotch bonnet, which I have been told is the HOTTEST pepper know to man, it certainly has a wicked kick. If you like hot stuff, go and grab some! Lunch at Leopold’s East and then start the load up. Quick supper at Leopold’s on Albert street then off to the Dodger!
Load in was quick and we took it all in at the sound check, such a cool feeling, indescribable really. I love it and love the anticipation leading up to it. The night started with Source Code, great energy and great sound! I hadn’t heard them before last night and was pleasantly surprised.
Before we went on, we had Lindsey of Lilyfield Photography do our promo shots for our upcoming EP and general marketing, cannot wait to see them. It was so much fun and I am positive that she captured the craziness that is Beautiful Thieves! We took the stage next and I have to say this was, in my opinion our most fun gig to date. Curt and I had a great discussion earlier in the about expectations and happiness. It came about because after the McNally’s gig we were a bit down as the gig prior to that one was Queen City Rocks and was PACKED. We talked about how our only expectation should be to have fun and do our best and the rest will just come. Well dammit if that didn’t work! We all had so much fun and I think it really showed last night.
Next up and amazing as always was Kinder Scout, this trio is so tight and sound so good. I always love listening to them and they are some of the most supportive and fun guys out there. Next up was Steve and his amazingly talented band Hearts and Knives. I know Steve was particularly nervous about last night as they recently lost their guitar player, but they transcribed the songs so that the piano took over the guitar parts and it sounded AWESOME! Go see these guys! They are really, really good! The last band of the night was Newera. I had not seen them live prior to this. Fantastic band and amazing music!
The night commenced as usual, all band members going there separate ways and ending up at different venues, not sure why we do this but one day we will end the night together!!
